V for Vendetta

So Ross and I saw the movie this weekend and we really liked it. I know a lot of people probably went to it only to see Natalie Portman get her head shaved, or because the Wachowski Brothers were involved, but it's the story that made this movie good.

I think it's good to make a fiction movie that makes people think about what is happening in the world today. Some can then chock it up to the fact that it is a fake movie and would never come true. Others will say they agree that it could happen. Either way, political stances can be made without people being offended by others' points of views. It's not forcing anyone to change their views. The movie just wants people to open their eyes to the possibilities. If that changes some one's mind, then that is fine.

So if you have not seen it, remember the following:

1> No, it's not another Matrix
2> Yes, there is a lot of dialogue
3> Yes, it will go over some people's heads

It's a good movie, so go see it!

Friend or Foe

I have an idea, but should I act on it??

A friend/co-worker just left our company to work in Iraq for one of the contracted companies that supply services to the military. He has been emailing everyone with updates and pictures telling every one his opinion (far right from center) about the war. He primarily talks about the troops and people (Americans so far) that he has encountered and how it's motivated and inspired him.

The idea was to create a blog to allow him and other American civilians in Iraq, some of whom also worked with me, to post their opinions and pictures for the world to view and comment on. We've seen and heard pictures from the US military and from the somewhat skewed and overly exaggerated media. This blog would provide the average everyday (albeit ex-military) person to describe and show the US and the rest of the world what they see.

I would look into how we can generate money from the site and possibly donate it to some good cause. The real reason behind the idea is to allow me to work on a project and see if I can create a site that generates money with little to no effort form me. I am also curious on how the public would react on such a hot topic and see if political vs. personal sites generate more traffic (I would use my site, this site, as the reference of a personal site). In the end it would be good experience.

hmmmmm.....

::w.bloggar:: to make my life easier.

So I'm working towards revamping this site and I began to think about if I want to keep the blog section. I found that it takes a lot of time to log in, set up, and write an entry. A lot of work for a simply entry. Additionally Diane would be making entries as well so I began to look for a tool that would make blogging very very easy and I think I found it.

I stumbled upon ::w.bloggar:: on my favorite news site digg.com. This is my first entry using w.bloggar so far and it seems pretty easy. Feels like typing in MS Word.

I let you know in my next entry if it was hassel free and easy to use.

see ya!!

Damn Spammers

These damn spammers keep hitting my website and adding their links to the comment section. So I've taken the ability to add comments until I can squeeze in some more time to fix the softeware that operates this blog.

Sorry, but I'll have this up and running soon.

Happiness

It’s funny what you hear on the news these days. CNN ran a story on Happiness and how they found an equation that “quantifies” it.

XBOX Live

Alright, so I tried to set up my XBox live and it worked. There are a couple of problems though: I only have one game (Unreal Championship) and my cousin Oscar (Aka: D.H.) hasn't signed up for DSL. It is fun but I'm not that good with the game (Unreal) and I am not able to completely use the voice option since I don't have any one to talk to. Oscar, you've got to sign up.

My first attempt at blogging...

OK. So I'm not the greatest when it comes to keeping in touch with my family and friends. I get the same remarks from my cousins (Jewels, Oscar, lil Oscar), from my sister, old friends like Jessie in Vegas and Perry in L.A., my mother... you get the picture. After hearing the same old story from all of them, "Why don't you keep in touch?", I realized that it is not so much them but me who has a problem, a problem with keeping in touch and letting everyone know what I have been up to.

As most people know, I'm not the type of person who likes to talk about myself or talk about what is happening in my life. It's not that I'm ashamed or embarrassed, it's just I don't like to talk about myself or my feelings (which is a whole different story in it self). I keep to myself a lot. It may be due to the fact that I grew up as a fairly lonely child. It could be because as a kid I did not have someone I could open up to and share my feelings with, hence I do not know how or why I should. Whatever the case is, I am not comfortable with talking about myself.

Now that I have moved to Georgia, I realize how important my friends and family are to me and how important it is to keep in touch and up to date with their lives. I realize that I enjoy hearing from them whether it's from an unexpected call at home to an unexpected letter with a picture enclosed. So to return the favor I will of course make more attempts at calling them, writing them, and will try to put my computer skills to good use and create a web page where we all can come together and read about each other and what has been going on in our lives.

Enjoy...
